I'm here

I haven't forgotten I have a blog, I just really don't have much to post. I sit here on my blue couch working on my various little projects. I have journaled in several scrapbooks and am now going through all my old scrapbook magazines cutting out pages I like to make my own idea book (inspired by Amy- organizational addict). Last ultrsound I had was great. I go tomorrow and am hoping for another good report. I'm praying for a bit of a reprieve from my restrictions but am trying not to get my hopes up. Still, my poor hips, legs and back need to walk! I'm going to start doing some arm exercises or else how am I going to be able to carry 2 babies in carriers? Oh well, poor me!!! Not really I'm still sane and learning to be so grateful for friends who feed me, call me, and come over to visit.

Update

I went back to the doctor for an ultrasound Wed. and measured great. I really think the new girl that measured me when I got put on bedrest made a mistake. I get remeasured Wed. then see the Dr. I'm hoping to beg to have some restrictions lifted.I just want to be able to fix my kids a pb&j! I had a bad day yesterday feeling like a bad mother to my 2 oldest kids by being a good one for my 2 youngest! It didn't help that Jackson told Jon, "I miss before Mommy had babies in her belly because she could snuggle me. Now her big belly pushes me off the couch." Needless to say, I made sure to snuggle him a lot last night, once I stopped crying! His teacher told Jon that she asked him how I was doing, and he said I was lazy! I guess that is how bedrest looks to a 6 year old!

Not much happening around here except Jackson got picked to play on the 6 year old all-star team. He's SO proud! Ashton on the other hand is loving me on bedrest beacause she's getting to pick out her own clothes. Please keep that in mind if you see her around! I'm now the proud parent of a pre-k and first grade child- wow! (And I'm about to start all over? crazy!).

Poor Jon is looking a little worn out these days. After taking off work to take Jackson to the last day of school and Ashton to ballet he has learned a new respect for what I do daily! He said if any of your husbands don't appreciate you just have them call him! He has really been amazing though! Between him and my wonderful mom helping out the house is actually cleaner than usual! Of course, all of you have been incerdible bringing us dinners and calling to check on me- thanks so much!

Well, I guess I'll continue laying around. Two things have really helped my mental state- Blockbuster rentals that they mail to you and I figured out how to lay on my side and journal in my scrapbooks! At least I'm accomplishing something off my to-do list!

good news, bad news...

We went in for our monthly ultrasound appt. yesterday. Last month both boys weighed 1 pound and were measuring exactly how many weeks I was. 4 short weeks later, Baby A weighs 2 lb 6 oz and Baby B a whopping 2 lb. 10 oz! They are both measuring 3 weeks ahead of where I am. I was so excited that they are both growing so much!

At the end of the ultrasound she always measures my cervix. It had thinned from like 36 mm(?) down to 22 (?). They sent me straight to the hospital to see if I was having contractions. I wasn't but am now a "very high risk pregnancy." I'm on complete bed rest except for trips to the doctor and bathroom and the new highlight of my day-a shower. The worst part is I have to lay on my side, which makes it hard to do lot. We're just in shock bc/ I've been feeling great and thought everything was fine. Of course, I'll do whatever it takes to keep the boys in for as long as possible.

Everyone's been so supportive. I just hope they don't get tired of me! Feel free to send me any good books or DVD's you might have! I go back for another ultrasound Wed. to make sure it isn't any thinner. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers! I'll post lots of boring entries so you'll know if I've gone crazy yet!

I'm back....

I don't know why I haven't posted in so long- probably bc/ I haven't done much but sleep lately. I think the boys are growing a new organ or have doubled their weight or something because they have sapped every ounce of energy I have lately. I've honestly not had anything exciting to post! Jon has started the wall in the baby room. He's worked so hard and accomplished so much. His dad has really helped too and is even mowing my yard right now so Jon can come straight home and work on the wall. We love retired Pop!!!!!!!!!!! I also decided how I'm going to paint in there. Yes, it's classic Tonya over the top with 3 colors of vertical stripes! Now it's time for the other Grandpa's to step up like Pop (who doesn't paint)- Granda, GranBobby are you there?

I go for another ultrasound tomorrow and hopefully will have a lot to share then. I can't wait to see how much they've grown! They move so much, but my books say they are about to move less bc/ of lack of space. I'll be so sad not to feel them all the time. The book also say that twin moms at the stage I'm at feel an average of 770 movements a day. I really do think I feel that many so it will be scary and strange when it slows down!

We're getting close to picking names. We think we know them but are struggling over one. I know everyone is ready for us to decide and so am I! I told Jon we have to decide before my shower so I can get embroidered things!

Thanks for checking back to see if I'm still a blogger! I'll be better!

10 weeks?!!!!!!!!!!

While at Jon's office yesterday, his co-worker was asking me how far along I was. I was telling her I was 25 weeks and due in August but 36 is perfectly safe for twins. She said I only had just over 10 weeks left. I had never looked at it like that! I literally felt lightheaded! Of course, I'm still praying for 38 weeks so they'll be completely developed, but maybe 10 weeks, wow! Apparently that freaked Jon out a little as well bc/ suddenly he's pressuring himself without me having to nag about finishing the babies' room. He was at Lowe's last night and was there again this morning by 8:30- ON A TURKEY HUNTING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!! That's the most amazing part!

Cheap Entertainment

While kicked back on the couch tonight (as Jon watched a hunting show), I was looking for somewhere to rest my water glass and sat it on my stomach. I figured I have to lug this thing around everywhere I might as well get some use out of it. That started my new favorite game and provided 20 minutes of entertainment as 1 baby started kicking it. I'm not sure which baby it was since it was in the middle, but I assume it was Baby A since he's the kicker. He was kicking it so hard it almost tipped over several times. Jon and I enjoyed watching how much he could move it. That's usually how we spend our down time after Jackson and Ashton are in bed- sitting on the couch watching my stomach jump as that seems to be when the twins get riled up. I fussed at Jon tonight bc/ he chose when I told the kids it was 3 min. until bedtime to start a lightsaber fight with them. Why do daddies always get them hyper at bedtime? As the big kids ran circles around us screaming, both babies started kicking. It really made me wonder if they could hear the ruccus. Great, now Jon has 4 to rile up!

Words of Wisdom From My 6 Year Old...

Jackson said the cutest thing in the car on the way to Jon's game last night. My little preacher can teach us all something, "Out of the mouths of babes" and all.

He said, "Mommy, when you start riding a bike without training wheels you get to see God work a lot of miracles. There's lots of time when I'm riding my bike that I think I'm going to crash, and I just close my eyes. When I open them I see that God performed a miracle and saved me from wrecking."

So, listen to Brother Jackson, get out there and get on your bike without training wheels, or whatever you're a little scared to do, and give God the chance to work some miracles in your life!
